Presentation feedback

The outcome of our idea presentation was quite successful; we put together our ideas and told the rest of the class what we had in mind. We were also able to gain some positive and critical feedback in order to help us throughout the planning of our music video project.

This feedback would help us to understand what we need to research a bit more on if so or what we covered well and also allow us to gain some suggestions from the class as to what they think of the further progression into making our music video.

First we were able to tell the class about the genre we were using; Dance/pop and we showed them a clip of a video from that genre by Katy Perry, and Lady gaga to get a feel for what Dance Pop consisted of. In relation to positive feedback we included a lot of detail and showed good evidence of research into this genre, which would then help us with the sort of location, costume, props and even the types of shots we would use in our music video.

Also with relation to positive feedback we covered the niche audience that our video would be aimed at and appeal to. However we weren’t specific with this. From our feedback we have researched and recognised that the target audience will not only be teenagers, but girls specifically, this is something that we didn't include but have now put into mind.

Another element of positive feedback we recived is the types of shots that we had planned to use, we thoroughly spoke about the use of camera shots that we were thinking of using, specifically quick fast shots, when it came to editing, but also some quite weird qwerky shots where we could make use of the different camera angles for example low angle shots, and high angle shots; used to make a person seem more important or less important, close ups on lip syncing to show the characters thoughts and feelings and other ideas in relation to camera shots consisted of wide shots and medium close ups to show the location and the focus of the characters. The feedback with this allowed us to see that we knew a lot about the different types of shots and the use of the camera in order to reflect different things in a scene but also how to relate the audience into the scene.

Other feedback on the critical aspect of our presentation was that we didn't have a main storyline and so we couldn't tell the class much about what we were going to include in our video as we had plenty of ideas but no real decisions had been made as to how the music video would go. Although we had a good range of ideas of what we wanted to include and a lot of that came from the video analysis we did and the intention to follow the codes and conventions of a Dance Pop genre music video.

We were also told that if we had included still images from the videos this would of helped our peers to see costumes and to understand the unique styles from this genre. Although this was a negative, our teacher and class mates agreed that the videos we presented increased their understanding.

Overall our presentation became a good opportunity to take some feedback as to what we need to consider and to gain peoples suggestions. We had a few suggestions with relation to the costume and props that we could think about, for example modern style of costume and some unusual kind of cool props as that suit the dance pop genre quite particularly.

This was something that we defiantly took into consideration and thought about, as we have decided to use some quite random, odd scenes to add into the quick shots.  Overall our presentation was well presented however we were now able to leave with some critical feedback to help us progress with our ideas and produce a good high quality music video.
