Goodwins analysis- Ed Sheeran - A Team

Ed Sheeran- Class A Team.

We watched this music video and found 5 out of 7 of Goodwins elements in it. These consist of:
  • Lyrics and visuals: E.g When he says 'go mad for a couple grams', the action shown is her paying money to a man and him handing a gram of drugs over to her. Also when he says, 'it's too cold outside for angels to fly', a sign is shown saying 'improving the angel'.
  • Demands on label. Each one of Ed Sheeran's music videos carry on the theme of black and white. His video's also consist of other people, he isn't the main object of the video's. This develops a single image by the label of Ed Sheeran.
  • Notions of looking. In this video the woman is visualised and represented as a victim of drugs, homelessness and prostitution exactly as what would be expected in today's world.
  • Structure. This music video has a fragmented structure. It shows a story but not in order of when it happens. Such as, in the beginning it shows her dead, then goes on to show what she's done in her life but at different points.
