Alice Digi Pak analysis- Christina Aguilera

When creating our digi pak, it is important to look at other digi pak’s within the same genre, Dance-pop, as we can therefore get inspiration and an idea as to what dance-pop digi paks include. When looking for a digi pak to analyse, I came across Christina Aguilera’s greatest hits album. When going into depth of her album, I will consider things such as colour schemes, logos shown, image/photographs, how the artist is represented and so on.

Firstly you can see the name of the artist ‘Christina Aguilera’ is printed in large writing straight across the bottom of the front cover. This clearly stands out to me as it is a clear font, a big size and doesn’t have anything around it making it too busy and blend in. This clearly shows people whose album it is. When creating our digi pak, I will also make our artists name as clear as this with a clear font and large size so it stands out to people and they know what album they are buying. The album name ‘greatest hits’ is printed just below the artists name. It has the same colouring as her name to keep the theme constant and not too busy and confusing for the readers. Using these colours of black and white is a good idea as it contrasts to the rest of the cover which is mainly pink. This further makes it clearer to the audience. When creating our digi pak, we will present the album name also beneath the artists name as it is clear to see, read and know what album they are buying.

On the right hand side of this album cover, there is a yellow box with a track listing inside. This is a good thing to include of the front of the digi pak as it shows what songs of hers are included. This is good as it clearly tells the market exactly what they’re buying for- they wouldn’t want to buy the wrong album! When creating our digi pak, we will consider putting a track listing on the front also.

There are 2 logo’s included on this front cover. One of them is the logo of ‘Star mark compilations’ who are a popular music company. The other logo I do not know but it looks as if it’s a company who have sponsored the album. Putting these logo’s on the front cover advertises them. We could include logos on our digi pak too, to advertise them.

The main focus of this digi pak front cover is a photograph of the artist herself. It is a head shot of her looking almost side-on to the camera. She is wearing lots of pink makeup with her hair curled nicely. Her doll-like makeup, hair and facial expression presents her in a beautiful, sexy and interesting way. It would attract many eyes of women who will see her as a role model, and also men who will like the photograph. We will consider having a headshot as our digi pak front cover as by analysing this, I can see It will attract a wide market. It looks like a fun album cover which is a convention of the dance-pop genre. The main colour scheme of this is pink. Pink is a good link with dance-pop as it reminds us of partying, getting ready, girly things and fun. Therefore we will consider having a fair amount of pink in our digi pak. Whereas if the main colour scheme was for example brown, it would not look very dance-pop! The background is also pink but a deeper shade with hints of white.

Here is the inside of Christina Aguilera’s digi pak. It contains 2 cd’s which fold out rather than the standard one cd which is different to other digi pak’s making this album qwerky which is a theme of Dance-pop.
Firstly on the left hand side on the first fold out, there is another picture of the artist. She is still with a pink background and wearing all the doll-like pink makeup which relates to the front sticking to the colour scheme. Sticking to the colour scheme throughout the digi pak is a good idea because it makes the whole digi pak still refer to the genre Dance-pop.

Covering this photograph is a 4 paragraphed biography about Christina Aguilera. This is a good thing to include within a digi pak because it allows you to get to know interesting information about who’s album they have bought. We will consider doing this when creating our digi pak.

In the bottom right hand corner, the ‘Star Mark Compilations’ logo is once again shown. This further advertises them. We will also show a logo more than once throughout our digi pak as it is clear to see that other albums of the dance pop genre do this.

Along the bottom there are 5 small pictures of all the other albums this artist has produced. This advertises the other work she has done. We could include other albums within our digi pak too. I can see each of her other albums also don’t have too much going on in them. They are mostly simple. This isn’t much like dance-pop as dance pop is qwerky, fun and exciting. So when creating out digi pak we will make them a bit more fun, more like dance pop.

On the 2 fold outs, the cd’s are in the style of a vinyl. They once again follows the colour scheme of pink. On the cd’s, the ‘Star mark compilations’ is one again printed to further carry on the theme. Behind the cd’s, although you cannot see it completely, there is a picture of the artists. Of what I can see, it looks like she is lying down with her feet up. I can imagine them to look provocative. This fits in with the dance-pop genre.

Each of the factors I’ve discussed throughout this digi pak fit well within the dance pop genre of being bright, girly and fun. When creating our digi pak, we will also have bright, fun colours.
