P!nk - DigiPak

Before creating our own digipak we looked into various artists of the dance pop genre and analysed there own album/single’s digipak’s, these inspired us in many ways and brought across new idea’s that we are able to use. I went ahead and analysed P!nk’s album ‘Funhouse’, I choose this album mainly due to the fact that she, as an artist, fits in very well with our chosen genre and is an extremely well know, popular musician.
Starting with the colour scheme, P!nk ‘s digipak uses mainly  a vintage yellow and pink which links in with the retro style of funfairs and the pink diagonal banner ironically links to her name. P!nk’s name is subtly repeated all over the background of the album, incorporated as a kind of wallpaper for the digipak, as well as this, across the pink banner we again see the artists name and the album name. However, although the font is a lot smaller, they stand out a lot more, the font is white which immediately brings attention to it as it stands out among the other detail on the album itself. Looking at the images presented on the album, the main feature is P!nk on a wooden horse, signifying the carousels that would be found at a funfair, linking into her album name. P!nk herself has not taken a natural pose on the wooden horse, it can be seen as quite flirty and fun, which I see as the main message that she is trying to get across to her audience. She has brought an energetic and fun feeling to the album, having such an abnormal and different picture on the album cover will draw in the target audience even more so than if the album was bland and boring. P!nk is also wearing a large diamond ring on her finger, signifying success and wealth. She has been styled in what appears to be a retro ‘funfair’ girl outfit, very short, open and fun, again linking in with her album title. Also, bringing in the retro, vintage style of funfairs is the subtle patterns in the corners, the black swirls and shapes come across as minor detail but having quite a large effect on the albums imagery. The back of the album uses similar colours, but the image of P!nk herself is a lot more serious and elegant, contrasting to the image on the front cover. Finally, looking at the detail on the CD itself, we again see the ‘fun factor’, the background is again a vintage yellow, in the background it is clear that there is a funfair in the distance, P!nk herself stands out a lot, wearing a bright pink dress, surrounded by brightly coloured balloons, also the wooden horse has been carried through onto this image.
When we talk about her track list, it is clear that her track list is presented very well on the back cover, unlike most artists, P!nk has chosen to use a wide variety of texts, almost a different text for each track. Each font is very bold and unique, but the colour of the font does not change, the font remains black throughout all the song titles. Other information that is included on the back of the Album is the name of the producer, any featuring artists, sponsored brands such as Virgin and Sony and the Copyright conditions of the album. As seen on almost all albums we also have the bar code in the top left corner, the price is not incorporated into the actual album artwork, but we can see the albums date of release. The overall style of the digipak allows an audience to recognise its genre, and immediately sends off a fun, enthusiastic vibe as a result of the colours and images used within the artwork. This is all essential when selling the product at the look and style of the digipak is a great way of advertisement.
