Rough Cut Self Evaluation

We can see that each new scene comes well in time with the music. As does the lip syncing- at the beginning shots anyway!
On the first close up of the girls eyes, the duration of it is too long, because of this, the visuals dont fit in with the continued lyrics. It will needs to be cut shorter as now, the audience are staring at the eyes doing nothing for too long, this is likely to bore an audience and they will loose interest in the music video. When her eyes are shown again at the end rolling, it comes in too late and therefore doesn’t finish in time with the music lyrics. On our storyboards, we planned for the eyes to stop rolling when she finishes singing, ‘I can see eyes in my window’. But at the moment her eyes are still shown when she goes on to sing, ‘your love has got me on the run…’ however we do have more footage filmed for this section of the song, it is therefore clear that we are able to cut the eyes shorter.

Another thing  that has been noticed is that when it shows the ‘geeks’ eyes, it jumps! To improve this we will look back at our editing and chose a different bit of footage of the geeks eyes looking right. Or we will make the duration of it’s eyes a bit longer, adding more at the beginning of the shot.

Although these are both negative aspects, we have agreed that there are some aspects that we enjoy and will keep, such as the lip syncing is done well and the scene works great with the lyrics.
This is only our first rough cut so you can expect it to not be perfect and have some errors. Spending more time editing will help create and accurate music video up to a high standard.
