Contacting the Artist

When filming a music video, consent from the artist is needed in order to gain the ability to use their music, I therefore contacted Kesha through MySpace, a social networking site that is extremely popular with music artists. It is an easy, reliable and cheap was for various artists to advertise there music. After Kesha accepting me as a friend/fan, i was able to comment on her profile asking for permission.

Here is a screen shot of Kesha's profile, quoted below is what was wrote to Kesha when asking for permission to use her music.

'Hello, my group and I are currently in the middle of our Media A Level and we have chosen to produce a music video for our coursework. As a part of the coursework we must get in contact with the artist of our chosen song, following this, our chosen song is 'Neva Baby', by yourself, as you are the original artist we must ask permission to use this track and create a music video for it. If you could gain your consent that would be great, thank you (: Sophie Stout, Alice Spencer, Collette Batchelor and Abi Shaw'

After leaving the above comment I was also able to email her a similar message.
